Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
Applications are invited from suitably qualified dental surgeons for this innovative and exciting full-time post which carries with it an appropriate honorary NHS contract at Consultant level. Appointment to either Clinical Senior Lecturer or Senior Clinical Teacher will be made depending on the successful candidate’s experience.
The successful candidate will join a committed team of clinical academic staff and will be expected to engage with teaching, research and clinical responsibilities within the Division of Restorative Dental Sciences. These include teaching duties (UG and PG) in all aspects of restorative dentistry. However, the primary role of the successful candidate will be to lead the established MDSc in Prosthodontics. This role will include recruitment of students, organisation of the programme and the delivery of the clinical and didactic teaching.
It is also expected that the incumbent will pursue either a research programme generating high quality publications and attracting external support, or contribute to pedagogic research activity in relation to MDSc and other UG/PG research students. Whilst the Dental School has its own autonomy there are excellent opportunities for research throughout the University. All applicants must be on the specialist list in Restorative Dentistry of the General Dental Council. Consideration will be given to applicants on the specialist list in Prosthodontics.
Successful applicants will be subject to health clearance and Disclosure Scotland/PVG checks.
