The Professional Development Centre (PDC) is looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Placement Advisor to develop placement for Brunel students to retain the department’s premier position as an award winning service.
The postholder will mainly support postgraduate students (with occassional support to undergraduates) primarily through all aspects of their placement applications working creatively with academic departments and employers to develop students' employability and ensure an adequate supply of placement opportunities.
You should have experience supporting students in achieving their career aspiration within a recruitment environment or a related field in higher education. You will also have experience of being a confident presenter with the ability to motivate students to compete effectively in a challenging job market. You are expected to have advanced IT skills and experience of developing administrative systems to enable you to lead on the development of PDC systems and technology enhancement. You will also make an active contribution to the wider strategy of academic departments and the PDC which operates as a one-stop-shop for students and employers. The placement advisor is expected to work in a variety of subject areas including business, IT, engineering and social sciences subjects. Occasional weekend work will be expected.
