Glyndwr University - School of Social and Life Sciences
|Salary:||£37.17 per hour|
|Placed on:||12th October 2016|
|Closes:||28th October 2016|
Wrexham Glyndŵr University is regarded as the “home of youth work in Wales”, having offered education and training to the youth and community sector for more than 39 years. As such the department has excellent links with employers across North Wales, North West England, and the midlands, and it works in partnership with organisations across the statutory, voluntary and third sector.
The Youth and Community Department, within the School for Social and Life Sciences are now seeking to recruit Placement Supervisors to provide support to students on placement. Qualified in JNC youth work, and with at least two years’ post qualifying experience, the successful candidates will assist academic staff and be actively involved in supporting students through their placement experience by undertaking placement visits and ensuring those students are working towards and evidencing the National Occupational Standards for youth work and community development.
The role will involve contact with placement providers and the completion of subsequent paperwork in line with requirements of the programme and JNC endorsement. There will also be a requirement to attend a placement supervisors briefing, as well as an end of year placement conference to help develop the placement learning experience for students.
We are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and have the ability to network and build successful relationships with clients and customers, as this is key to developing and growing excellent placement opportunities for our students. Candidates must also be empathetic to student requirements, to ensure they receive the best student experience. The number of students and frequency of work allocated to Placement Supervisors will be dependent upon geographical location of student’s placements, and flexibility is an essential requirement to respond to the demands throughout the academic year.
The University will also offer the successful candidates the opportunity to undertake further study, such as the Professional Studies in Supervision CPD course offered by Wrexham Glyndwr University.
