Based full-time on the Edinburgh campus, the post-holder will be a member of a vibrant team in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society. The Research & Knowledge Exchange Support team is one of 6 professional services teams within the School and is managed by the Research & Knowledge Exchange Support Manager. The professional services teams within the School are committed to pursuing excellence and within this context aim to provide a supportive and professional environment in which excellent research, education and knowledge exchange can flourish.
The team provide support to a number of activities, which range from: postgraduate research applicant and student administration; supporting research activities such as research events, research proposals, REF; and continuing professional development. The School is one of 3 large Schools in the university (in the region of 300 staff) and has around 400 students on the postgraduate research programmes. These programmes have recently come on stream at the Dubai campus and will in the future be offered at the Malaysia campus.
The main focus for the post-holder is to provide administrative support to the research activities within the School. The work will be varied and will require the post-holder to provide a fair, friendly and timely service to staff, students, partners and visitors.
The post-holder will be required to liaise closely with other members of the School’s Research & Knowledge Exchange Support team as well as academic staff and other professional service teams both within the School and the centre (e.g. the School’s Finance Office and Staff Office, the central Research & Enterprise Services, Student Service Centre and Academic Registry etc.) to ensure all duties are seamlessly covered.
You will be educated to honours degree level or equivalent and have experience of providing relevant administrative support.
