Fixed Term Contract from 1/1/17 to 31/12/18.

Warwick Medical School seeks to appoint a highly motivated Research Associate who will work on a project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Services & Delivery Research (HS&DR) Programme to investigate issues surrounding publication and related bias in HS&DR. The project is led by the University of Warwick in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Birmingham and University of East Anglia. The post holder will undertake methodological reviews and gather other empirical quantitative and qualitative evidence to explore issues related to publication bias and possible methods to deal with them in HS&DR. The output of the research has direct implications on research and practice in the field.

The post holder will have a good understanding of the theory and practice of systematic reviews, including the potential influence of publication and related bias and methods for detecting it. Some familiarity with common study designs used in health service research and good numerical skills and attention to detail are also important. The post holder will have strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage their own workload and work on their own initiative, accurately and to specific deadlines.

The post holder will be based in the Warwick Centre for Applied Health Research (W-CAHRD) and will be working with an active, multidisciplinary team of applied health researchers with expertise covering evidence synthesis, economic analysis, intervention evaluations and Bayesian methods, and will have opportunities to work with national and international experts in applied health research through W-CAHRD, NIHR CLAHRC West Midlands, the Division of Health Sciences and wider research networks.
