The School of Geography and the Environment wish to appoint a Finance and Grants Officer to support the Finance Manager across the full range of finance-related duties required to support a large, complex academic department which hosts three major research units.
A key part of the role will be supporting the financial management for the School’s externally funded research projects, including managing the timely provision of reports and information to funders, Principal Investigators and other stakeholders. The post holder will work to ensure that the School implements and maintains effective and robust financial processes and controls, and play a key role in maintaining the overall financial health of the School across its externally funded research projects. You will be responsible for coordinating the month end financial processes and ensuring deadlines are met as required as well as supporting preparation of the School’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
You must have experience of working within a similar role, a good knowledge of financial administration and the ability to manage a diverse workload. Experience of financial administration of externally funded research projects in a University setting is essential. You will also need a good level of numeracy and general education to a minimum of degree level (or equivalent experience qualification such as AAT). The ability to solve complex problems using own initiative with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is a must.
