We offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Anaesthetist with an enthusiasm for sharing their experience and knowledge with Veterinary Undergraduates.
The successful candidate will join our supportive and enthusiastic team of clinicians to develop and deliver teaching in clinical anaesthesia and patient care. The School offers state of the art teaching resources including dedicated large and small animal facilities, wet and dry clinical skills laboratories / mock practices.
The appointee will organise and lead anaesthesia teaching, small animal teaching being hosted nearby at the Fitzpatrick Referrals Oncology and Soft Tissue (FROST) Centre as part of our partnership with Fitzpatrick Referrals. This state-of-the-art teaching facility will provide our students, staff and animals with unparalleled access to equipment and support at the forefront of Veterinary Science. We are therefore seeking to appoint an anaesthetist to work in these facilities to deliver anaesthesia training that will give our students the skills and confidence they require to enter general practice. With the support of European and RCVS specialists, the post holder will work closely with a dedicated surgeon to develop this teaching resource to best deliver a holistic education in the care and treatment of selected small animal surgical cases. Opportunities for the development of large animal teaching clinics may be possible for an appropriate candidate.
The School of Veterinary Medicine follows a distributed model for final year teaching and we are actively partnered with local Companion, Equine and Production Animal, First Opinion and Referral Practices, whose clinicians participate in teaching throughout the undergraduate curriculum and in the provision of postgraduate training for staff and CPD delegates. Continued personal development of the appointee is actively encouraged and financed.
