The salary will be £25,298 per annum subject to knowledge, skills and experience, depending on qualifications an additional market supplement of £2,526 can be achieved.

The Exeter University Engineering & Direct Works team is delighted to be able to recruit a Skilled Commercial Gas Engineer Operative. This full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.

Based at the Exeter Campuses, this post offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to become part of the Planned Maintenance & Reactive Building Maintenance team. With a diverse customer base, student, academic and professional service staff, the work of the Engineering & Direct Works team provides a supporting role to attainments of the University and is both challenging, and rewarding.

The role is customer facing and therefore a polite and calm disposition is essential. A starter finisher mentality, combined with a practical methodical approach to work is a key criterion for this role. You should also be able to demonstrate, commitment, precision and accuracy of recording, in weekly and monthly tasks. Be able to fault find and diagnose on a varied range of  commercial gas appliances, to have previous experience in commercial mechanical systems HVAC, and can work on own initiative in delivering corrective and preventative works.

The work undertaken by the Planned Maintenance team is largely committed to health and safety, legislation and standards and therefore, a working knowledge of this is necessary. Full mandatory training will be provided.
