We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and forward-looking professional who has recently completed (or expects to complete) a postgraduate information course and is committed to achieving chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. The post combines liaison and functional responsibilities and offers some supervisory experience.

The post is placed in the Science and Life Sciences Team. Liaison responsibilities will involve communicating pro-actively with designated academic departments; managing information resources and related budgets; teaching information skills; answering subject enquiries; producing printed and electronic guides to services and collections; and developing and rationalising the Library’s collections in your subject areas in line with the relevant Collection Development Policies. Functional responsibilities will involve supporting the Library’s Web Manager to maintain and develop both the internal and external web sites for the Library. The postholder will also assist with the provision of support for research publications.

You will have:

  • - A good first degree (honours) or equivalent, and a postgraduate degree or diploma in library/information science or equivalent subject area
  • - Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • - A strong commitment to a high standard of user-focused service delivery and an understanding of current trends in higher education library/information services
  • - Good organisation and time management skills
  • - Good IT skills with a demonstrable commitment to the effective application of information technology to information services development
  • - Personal commitment to achieving Chartered membership of CILIP

This is a three year fixed term contract supporting the post holder in gaining their Chartership before making their next career move.
