Postdoctoral Researcher on the Foundations of Factorised Data Management Systems (FADAMS)

University of Oxford - Department of Computer Science

The department has a superb new opportunity for a Researcher on the FADAMS (Foundations of Factorised Data Management Systems) project, for up to 2 years, with the possibility of extension for a further 2 years. Reporting to Professor Dan Olteanu, you will be a member of the Information Systems group, sponsored by an ERC consolidator grant.

The project aims to investigate fundamental challenges in scalable data management at the confluence of succinct factorised representations of relational data, distributed processing, and approximate processing of query and machine learning workloads, and build a system that incorporates the techniques and algorithmic insights on distributed and approximate processing of factorised data.

You will have a PhD (or very close to completion) in computer science, together with a strong publication record in at least one of the following: database systems, database theory or closely related areas. Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project is highly desirable.

Applications must be received by 12:00 noon on the closing date above. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 6 December 2016.
