This entails substantial increase in research funding and the development of infrastructural support as well as ample dedicated leave time for research and conferences.
In April 2014, UBD experienced another milestone with the announcement of the new salary scheme for the recruitment and retention of quality academic staff.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Social or Behavioural Sciences field such as survey methodology, statistics/sampling, sociology or related field from a recognized university, and demonstrated outstanding record of research productivity and teaching excellence. Successful candidates will be involved in the development of multidisciplinary research, active publication, and graduate research supervision. Expert knowledge of survey or similar research operations including questionnaire design, cognitive interviews, sampling, and survey administration and quantitative research and analysis skills including competence with statistical software (e.g. SPSS, Nvivo, EViews) is required. Experience in multidisciplinary team research will be essential, and leadership roles will be viewed favourably.
Teaching and research interests in related fields such as youth, poverty, ageing, social problems and health related areas will be an advantage. Active participation in the activities of the Centre for Advanced Research (CARe) including research, seminar and administration is also expected. Applicants must expect to be involved in some teaching should their application be successful
UBD Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary range per annum: -
Lecturer (with PhD) - between BND40,680 to BND53,280
Assistant Professor / Senior Assistant Professor - between BND49,560 to BND76, 920
Associate Professor - between BND87,600 to BND90,120
Professor - between BND105,600 to BND230,400
Bonus payment after each 12 months of satisfactory service.
Gratuity payment of 25% of last drawn basic monthly salary x 36 months. Payable at the end of the contract.
No personal income tax scheme in Brunei Darussalam on income earned.
