Applications are invited for a Lecturer to join the Algorithms and Complexity Group within the Laboratory for the Foundations of Computer Science, part of the School of Informatics, at The University of Edinburgh. For an exceptional candidate, appointment to the position of Senior Lecturer or Reader will be considered.
The successful candidate will provide research excellence and teaching in algorithms and complexity theory, broadly defined. The School is open to a variety of specialisms within the theory of algorithms and complexity, including (but not limited to): algorithms for large data sets, algorithmic game theory and the interface of algorithms with economics, algorithmic foundations of data privacy, algorithmic learning theory, randomised algorithms, approximation algorithms, computational complexity theory, network algorithms, algorithmic aspects of security and cryptography, and quantum algorithms/complexity.
The School of Informatics is one of the top ranked departments in computer science in Europe, with over 100 faculty members, and is housed in the Informatics Forum building, located in the centre of Edinburgh.
The School has prioritised algorithms and complexity research as one of the areas for growth over the next several years.
Appointment will be full-time and open-ended.
Lecturer grade: UE08 (£39,324 - £46,924)
Senior Lecturer or Reader grade: UE09 (£49,722 - £55,998)
Interviews will be held in Edinburgh in early 2017.
