The Head of Research Development is a senior leadership position within the University's Research and Innovation Services Directorate. The post holder will report to the Director of Research and Innovation Services and will work closely with colleagues across the Research and Innovation Services Directorate as well as senior colleagues in Faculties, Departments and Professional Support Services to deliver research development support across the institution.
The post holder will lead a team of senior research development professionals, with a cross-institutional remit to increase the quality and value of funding applications at Durham University and embed good practice in the identification of opportunities and development of successful proposals. This is a new role that has been established in response to Durham’s new University Strategy, which was agreed by University Council in July 2016.
The post holder will be expected to form strong links to academic heads, research directors and other senior leaders across the University to contribute to the development and implementation of departmental and faculty level research strategy. This role also involves working in close collaboration with academic staff to nurture strong links with funders, including research councils, charities and trusts, International funders, partners and relevant intermediaries.
