Process Controls Engineer: Pilot Scale Advanced Carbon-Capture Technology (PACT) Facilities

The process Engineer will support activities of the PACT Core facilities at Sheffield University. He/she will work across all the site’s test plants, including experimental support, and maintenance and continuing development and advancement of capability on existing and planned new rigs.

The post holder will oversee process control and monitoring systems for the site’s rigs. He/she will be responsible for maintaining of existing systems, and upgrading and development of these systems to meet varying experimental demands and strategic capability objectives, as well as the development of new systems for continually expanding capability of the facilities. The post holder will also be expected to be directly involved in the operation of the plants to (1) support the delivery of a variety of research or testing projects and (2) to use the operational experience to lead a continued programme of improvements and strategic developments in process control and monitoring.

The post holder will work alongside and be supported by a team of technical support staff headed by a Supervising Technician and senior academic operators for each rig. He/she will also work with PACT Business Development Manager to support strategic development plans and costing, to aid the planning of experimental and development projects and report on project progress and systems status.

The post holder will have a good degree or higher (or equivalent experience) in process control engineering, experience of industrial process control and be able to provide a track record of designing, building and delivering successful small process control systems.
