The School wishes to appoint a Career Development Research Fellow in Microbiomes/Metagenomics. This post will extend the School’s commitment to these disciplines and will align with the interests of numerous academics across the School that embrace the application of next-generation sequencing (NGS) based approaches to explore the diversity and functionality of viral, prokaryote and eukaryote communities.
The Career Development Research Fellow in Microbiomes/Metagenomics must possess not only the ambition to develop his/her own scholarly research and professional activities in the field, but also a willingness to collaborate with others within the School and beyond, to facilitate the development of a virtually limitless array of investigations that employ NGS to explore, quantify and understand biodiversity.
Applicants are expected to be exceptional scientists who are in the early stages of their research career and have the potential to become leaders in their field. Applicants must, therefore, be able to demonstrate an outstanding contribution to microbiome genomics and/or metagenomics and have a clear and ambitious plan for their career development; the successful Fellow will also be expected to apply for external funding, contribute to REF2021 and be a strong candidate for a permanent post in the University at the end of the Fellowship.
