This post is available until 31 December 2017 and the post holder will be an active member of a research team assisting in the development of novel therapeutics within the Centre for Experimental Medicine, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. The position will involve working as part of a research programme that is investigating mechanisms of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSC) effects in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The purpose of this project is to comprehensively investigate the role of miRNA secreted in MSC derived extracellular vesicles in inflammatory microenvironment. The successful candidate will work on a translational respiratory research project aimed at deciphering the role of micro-RNA in mechanisms by which Mesenchymal Stromal Cells derived extracellular vesicles exert protective effect in experimental models of ARDS with specific focus on macrophage modulation. The project will lead to the development of the next–generation MSC with enhanced therapeutic efficacy. This position is funded by UK Medical Research Council.
