Researcher / Lecturer in Crop Protection

Scotland's Rural College (SRUC)

SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe. Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.

SRUC, The Roslin Institute and the National Institute of Agricultural Botany are currently establishing a centre for integrative plant and animal breeding to serve the needs of breeding activities in low and middle income countries (LMICs). This centre will harness and expand upon latent expertise in quantitative genetics in the UK. It will undertake research into the development and implementation of carefully designed breeding programs in conjunction with CGIAR institutes and national agricultural research centres in LMICs.

SRUC already has a successful programme of research and teaching on sustainable crop protection and plant health which bridges the fundamental and translational aspects of SRUC activity and, with an increased emphasis on plant health, we are also expanding this area. We are currently seeking the following roles:

In this role, you will take on and develop a programme of research covering plant-pathogen interactions, control of the important pathogens to Scottish agriculture and Integrated Pest Management and contribute to the research and teaching deliverables of the successful Crop Protection Team at SRUC.

You will be expected to contribute significantly to the publication record of the Crop Protection team so you will have a track record of publishing in refereed journals. The post will include responsibility undergraduate and postgraduate project supervision. You will be an experienced PI with strong expertise in crop protection and ideally have lecturing and teaching experience.

This is a fixed term role for 3 years.

Further information on the duties and requirements of these roles can be found in the job particulars downloadable from the apply link.

Please note that CVs will not be accepted without a completed application form.
