Fixed Term Until 31 January 2020, Full Time

You will undertake data collection and analysis on a mixed methods Wellcome Trust study, ‘Pre-conception genetic screening for autosomal recessive conditions of uncertain or highly variable prognosis: social and ethical implications' and will assist the project lead and project collaborators in the successful execution of the project.

You will assist with the development of research materials (interview schedules, surveys) and successful completion of associated research procedures (ethics) and work closely with the project PI to establish recruitment strategies for qualitative interview and survey participants. You will undertake in-depth qualitative interviews and oversee administration of online and postal surveys.

You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in health, social or behavioural sciences together with an interest in, or familiarity with, social dimensions of genomic medicine and/or bioethics and a proven interest in or experience of public engagement in research.

You will have experience of conducting in-depth qualitative interviews and experience of undertaking survey design and/or data collection and analysis.

Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required together with an ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of people from different backgrounds (lay and professional).

Where you have not yet been awarded your PhD, any offer made to you will be an under-appointment to the post of Research Assistant at a salary of £28,453 per annum. Once your PhD has been awarded and you have evidenced this, you will be appointed to the substantive post of Research Fellow at a salary within the range shown above.

It is University Policy to make an appointment on the first point of the relevant salary range.
