The School wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Psychology Applied to Health group in the Medical School. This Stroke Association funded post is available from 1st April 2017 to 31st October 2018 on a 0.8FTE part time basis. The successful applicant will to support the trial manager in the day-to-day management and administration of a pilot randomised controlled trial of a new group-based singing intervention for people with aphasia.  

The post will include: contribution to the development of the group intervention, preparation of study materials, data collection (including qualitative interviewing), data entry and analysis, report writing. The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and may also contribute to the preparation of research proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be near completion of a PhD) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Mixed methods research experience is essential. Applicants will have knowledge of the literature on the use of groups in delivery of healthcare and / or other applied settings and ideally experience of working with clinical populations, including vulnerable groups.

The starting salary will £28,452 up to £32,958 per annum (pro rata) on Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience.
