The Centre for Education Studies now seeks a new Director with demonstrable interdisciplinary expertise and a strong research record with international reputation, working cross-departmentally to develop collaborative research and re-imagining the field of Education Studies. The individual will be responsible for providing academic leadership and management of the dynamic Centre, working as the hub to coordinate and leverage research and teaching activity with other departments in an exciting and distinctive “Hub and Spokes” model.

Warwick Centre for Education Studies is a thriving, highly collaborative and interdisciplinary unit within the Social Science Faculty of fifteen departments. The Centre community includes 500 postgraduate taught students, 100 PhD students, 28 academic staff and 10 support staff, and a growing and innovative set of Undergraduate programmes.

In the REF2014 (Research Excellence Framework) exercise Education was ranked 3rd when weighted by research intensity. CES is committed to working in an interdisciplinary manner and has close links with a range of academic departments across the university. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Professor on an indefinite basis and have a strong research profile and leadership credentials. The appointment as Director will be for three years in the first instance, with an option to continue for a further two. The next Director will be able to engage with a diverse community of scholars and students, and support collaboration with the wider University. He or she will also be a spokesperson on behalf of the Department to public and private audiences, nationally and internationally, to develop networks and promote the work of the Centre.
