Head of the School of Life Sciences

University of Lincoln - College of Science

Dynamic leadership, inspirational academics and significant financial investment have seen our reputation for research and learning go from strength to strength. We’re looking for exceptional people with a relentless focus on improvement. Join us in shaping the next stage of our exciting future.

Set in the heart of a beautiful, safe and friendly city, the University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious and international institution with high aspirations and a rapidly improving profile

We are looking for an inspirational Head of the School of Life Sciences. Your leadership skills and strategic vision will be complemented by your strong track record in delivering projects including recruitment of staff, building research capacity and external links and delivering a superb student experience through an innovative curriculum. You will have strong management skills and the ability to develop a talented and motivated team to ensure the School continues to grow its reputation for world-class teaching and research. As a member of the College Management Team, you will have a collegiate approach and the ambition to succeed in a supportive atmosphere.

The School of Life Sciences is one of eight Schools within our growing and ambitious College of Science and provides a stimulating, interdisciplinary and collegiate environment for supporting excellence in research and teaching. In 2014 we moved to two newly refurbished and well equipped science buildings, part of the University’s substantial commitment to provide the science infrastructure to match our ambition. Our portfolio of research and teaching covers a wide spectrum of the Life Sciences with research activity in four core groups - Animal Behaviour, Cognition and Welfare; Drug Design and Delivery; Evolution and Ecology; Molecular Basis of Disease.

We offer a focused and increasingly popular undergraduate portfolio with sector-leading student satisfaction (NSS 2016 – nationally first in four degree programmes). In REF 2014 the School’s submissions to Allied Health Professions and Agriculture, Veterinary and Food were ranked 10th and 2nd respectively in the UK for output quality. The School has strong links to two cross-College Institutes: the Institute of Health, and the Institute for Agri-Food Technology which facilitate interdisciplinary work.

As an Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder the School is committed to advancing gender equality in this STEM subject.
