Research Fellow in Primary Health Care

University of Bristol - School of Social and Community Medicine

The Centre for Academic Primary Care, within the University of Bristol School of Social and Community Medicine, is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced researcher with an established track to join a new research team. The successful candidate will help to develop an emerging theme around the rational and safe use of medicines in primary care, including working up new ideas, conducting and interpreting research and analysis, and writing grants. The post-holder will be encouraged to build their own research portfolio as well as contributing to other work within the Centre, and support will be provided for further career development including fellowship applications to the major research funding bodies.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent qualification. We are happy to receive applications from individuals from a range of disciplinary backgrounds, including qualitative research, observational quantitative research, and clinical trials. The most important factors are that the applicant has a shared enthusiasm for developing research in the area of prescribing and therapeutics, and is likely to attract substantial research funding to enable them to conduct excellent research leading to important and influential research outputs in this field. The post is for 18 months in the first instance, but we hope to be able to extend this.
