Graduate Opportunity Based at St Leonards-on-Sea

The Role

During the 14 month KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) project you will be the lead researcher on the development of materials with improved optical properties.

Working closely with the academics at Surrey University and the Research team at Plastipack you will have the opportunity to expand your skills in optical characterisation using the University’s optical analysis equipment and Plastipack’s own bespoke pool testing facility.

Being based at Plastipacks manufacturing facility in Hastings this role provides a unique opportunity to gain real experience of applying your skills to develop improved performance of sustainable products.

The Company

Plastipack is a niche manufacturer of swimming pool and water storage cover materials, with headquarters and a manufacturing facility based in the UK. This project will allow Plastipack to increase their production capacity and become world leading innovators of sustainable water storage solar solutions.

Person

The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate in Physical Science. You will have the opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills in the areas of physics and material science. Developing these skills in a complex and commercial environment will provide a unique opportunity for career progression and gain significant experience.

Technical expertise will be required to identify solutions; implement process controls; and devise tests; as well as computer based simulation, analysis and evaluation, and interpretation.

We require a self-starter who will perform beyond the bounds of the immediate tasks set and create real impact for Plastipack. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop a diverse range of non-technical skills such as project management, leadership and an understanding of complex business processes in order to become a manager of tomorrow within this sector. You will be demonstrably pragmatic, creative, highly proactive and able to work well on your own initiative. You will have excellent organisational, ICT, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as experience of technical report writing.
