The Department of Mechanical Engineering requires a highly skilled, adaptable and self-motivated mechatronics technician to provide technical support to the new Integrated Design Engineering workshops and laboratories.
The successful applicant should have substantial experience in both mechanical and electrical/electronic disciplines. Reporting to the Rapid Prototyping Senior Technician, he/she will be responsible for providing technical advice, instruction and support to academic and research staff and students in the mechatronics workshops and laboratories. The post holder will be proficient in the configuration, commissioning, safe operation and use of a variety of mechanical and electronic test systems together with circuit design, safety testing and inspection (PAT), IT systems and possess basic machining and construction skills.
Applicants should have served either a recognised electronics and/or mechanical engineering or technician apprenticeship, possess a minimum of a HNC/HND or C & G qualification, or equivalent, and enjoy working with students and staff on creative design projects.
This is a full time position (36.5 hours per week).
The post is offered on an open ended contract at a commencing salary of £21,220 per annum rising to £24,565 per annum through annual increments.
