|Closes:||31st January 2017|
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Navarra seeks to fill a one year full-time, open-rank, Visiting Professor position in Philosophical Anthropology and Ethics, to begin September 2017. Depending on performance and mutual interests, the contract may be extended to a second year. Advanced candidates may eventually apply for tenure.
The candidate will work in the Department of Philosophy, a dynamic unit of 26 professors responsible for the Degree, Master and PhD Program in Philosophy.
Candidates will have a PhD in Philosophy by the date of the commencement of the position and will be expected to teach philosophical anthropology, ethics, and other related subjects, both to Spanish-speaking and international students. Part of the candidate's teaching will be on Core Curriculum subjects — a handful of compulsory courses on anthropology and ethics taken by students of different programs. The School of Humanities will value highly the candidate’s ability to teach in both English and Spanish, even if initially only in one of the two languages. The ideal candidate will have a background in continental and analytic philosophy, demonstrate knowledge of Christianity and religion, and value the crucial link between philosophical theories and one’s life. Demonstrated research excellence or promise of research in philosophical anthropology, ethics or other related areas of philosophy are expected. The School of Humanities will take into consideration the successful candidate's ability to lead research or academic projects in his or her unit, to be genuinely committed to students and show a collaborative spirit with colleagues and administrative staff. Duties include teaching 2-3 courses per semester and assisting with program development. Persons with administrative experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit a dossier that includes a cover letter that describes his or her research, teaching philosophy and experience, administrative work, a CV, and the names of two referees to email@example.com. For further information or queries, please contact Carmen Muriel (firstname.lastname@example.org). For full consideration, please submit the dossier by 31st January 2017. Candidates will be initially interviewed by Skype.
