Fixed Term appointment until 31/10/2017
A post-doctoral position is available within the Centre for Process Systems Engineering (www.cpse.imperial.ac.uk) to work on the development of modelling and optimisation methods for improving the design and operation of value chains associated with biorefineries. The project is part of a Marie Curie Initial Training Network called RENESENG (http://www.reneseng.com), which is exploring the application of systems engineering techniques to all elements of the biorenewables value chain. The approach builds on research at the CPSE which has developed some techniques for the modelling of biomass supply chains and biomass conversion.
The project will involve the development of mathematical and computational techniques coupled to models of the systems under investigation and focus on integration with other tools and solution methods. Collaboration with several partners who will provide key data on biomass production and conversion will be important.
We are looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Degree (or equivalent) in chemical engineering or similar discipline
- Some experience in process systems modelling and optimisation
- Experience in biorenewables modelling
The appointee should hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
To comply with ITN funding conditions, any candidate must be an Experienced Researcher. They must, at the time of recruitment, have a PhD or at least 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience.
