The American Institute for Foreign Study, which organises study abroad programmes for US undergraduate students in UK, is recruiting a lecturer in English Literature for the spring semester of 2017. The courses meet twice a week between March – May 2017.
Teaching will take place in central Oxford.
The courses are to be taught to a group of undergraduate students from the USA.
Course titles to be taught are:
- Masterpieces of Drama
- Introduction to the novel
Syllabi for these courses already exist and should be taught as they have been designed by lead faculty in the states. Courses have a strong focus on British novels and drama. We are looking for a diverse and varied approach to teaching and class activities and encourage visits, walking tours and trips that will enhance the curriculum. We welcome suggestions as to the scheduling and itinerary for these from each candidate.
We will consider candidates wishing to teach either one course or both and candidates should specify this in their cover letter.
Interested candidates should have relevant teaching experience and hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree. Previous experience of teaching US students would be an advantage.
