We are seeking to recruit a self-motivated research development professional/ bid writer with a strong commitment to customer service to support the delivery of research grant capture in the College of Social Sciences at the University of Birmingham. The post will form an integral part of dedicated research support in the College and the wider infrastructure for research support across the University, led by Research and Innovation Services. The post holder will be assigned a portfolio of Schools within the College, and to enable high standards of delivery in all their work the post holder will have access to administrative assistance to support their activities.
The Research Facilitator will be responsible for driving and supporting research funding applications from academics within their portfolio. Responsibilities will include: (i) to proactively lead the matching of academic ideas to specific funding opportunities (ii) development of funding applications (including reviewing and drafting text); and (iii) oversight of the collation of costs; partnership coordination; management of internal approval processes; and technicalities of the submission process.
It is expected that applicants will be degree-educated, preferably in a discipline relevant to the Social Sciences. A commitment to the delivery of exceptional customer service is essential, as is experience of proposal development; and a proven track record in contributing to winning bids in either an academic or non-academic environment.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for either an established Research Support professional wishing to work in the Social Sciences, or an experienced bid writer/ proposal development specialist from outside the Higher Education Sector looking to gain experience in a new professional environment.
