This is an exciting and expanding role that contributes to developing, delivering and promoting research support services provided by the Library in support of the University Strategy and at a time when the scholarly communications landscape is changing rapidly.
You will require professional, scholarly and a strong technical understanding together with strong interpersonal skills as the post involves close and collaborative working with different partners across the University. Knowledge and a keen interest in scholarly communication issues are expected and will be critical in informing discussions with academic and administrative colleagues.
Working with wider Library Colleagues, the Scholarly Communications Team Leaders Group and other relevant stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting wider scholarly communications and digital scholarship activities - supporting academics, scholars and researchers to publish and share their research findings most effectively to the wider academic community and beyond.
Priorities over the coming period will include further development of the Library’s journals publishing platform, as well as advocacy for and embedding of open access policies and processes across the University. The post will be responsible for contributing to the training offered for postgraduate and early career researchers developed in research to researcher needs and interests.
In addition the post holder will look to strengthen the Library offer in terms of support the Library’s contribution to planning and initiatives around research impact and research assessments such as the Research Excellence Framework in collaboration with colleagues across campus. You will be expected to engage beyond the University to maintain awareness of relevant developments.
You will be educated to Degree level or equivalent with experience of working in a Higher Education customer service environment; with a knowledge of a range of scholarly processes such as publishing, open access and copyright and an enthusiasm to share your knowledge with our community.
