Senior Research Manager (maternity cover)

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Research Manager to join our team at the Earlham Institute (EI). This maternity cover position will provide an exciting opportunity to support the EI research faculty in delivering the Institute’s scientific strategy and enabling the faculty to pursue new research and funding opportunities.

The successful candidate will support the Director of Science, working closely with the wider Executive team and scientific faculty, to implement the Institute Strategic Programmes and Global Challenge Research Fund initiatives. The post holder will also be responsible for developing and implementing policies for scientific governance as required.

Candidates are required to have a PhD in a related science subject and relevant post-graduate qualification in science or business-related discipline, as well as excellent project management skills with a working knowledge of project management productivity tools and principles. Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to review, develop and implement robust administrative processes are both essential for this role.

The Earlham Institute is a vibrant, contemporary research institute. We host one of the largest computing hardware facilities dedicated to life science research in Europe and our aim is to ensure that biological science in the UK has access to a skill base in genomics and bioinformatics to deliver programmes leading to improved food security, advances in industrial biotechnology and improved human health and wellbeing.

Salary on appointment will be within the range £38,520 to £47,080 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.  This maternity cover contract is anticipated to last 12 months, however, it may be shorter or longer depending on when the absent employee   returns to work.
