Senior Receptionist / Clerk

We are looking for an enthusiastic, courteous and approachable person to provide reception and administrative support at the Old Schools.

This is a very important front-facing post. The Old Schools is one of the key administrative buildings of the University and houses some of the most senior officers of the University including the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the Registrary. Visitors are both external and internal to the University and may be very senior and high profile individuals.

Duties include, dealing with telephone enquiries, greeting all visitors, distributing mail, arranging card access, booking rooms, coordinating courier collections and deliveries and making travel arrangements. The individual is expected to be flexible in their approach and be willing to develop their skills. The candidate will be asked to work mornings primarily and could be requested to work entire days when the afternoon receptionist is unavailable due to leave or sickness. The individual will also be asked to provide administrative support to the Office Manager; this could include data entry, dealing with queries in their absence, filing and assisting the manager with any ad-hoc business.

The candidate will have a good general education, GCSE standard or equivalent; excellent English, both written and spoken, with a good grasp of grammar and spelling. Experience in a similar post which involves secretarial and IT skills are desirable.

The hours to be covered are 08:15 - 13:15 Monday - Friday.

Holiday entitlement is 36 days inclusive of bank holidays.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
