The position is an ongoing standard research and teaching academic position in the discipline of Computer Science and Software Engineering in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology, which has a strong culture of research excellence. 

The incumbent will have expertise in big data and data analytics, software innovation, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity or visualisation.  

The Lecturer role will undertake research and teaching in their discipline or related area, and contribute to other appropriate professional activities within the Faculty. In research, the incumbent will make an independent contribution that expands knowledge, contributing to the Faculty’s research excellence and impact in collaboration with external partners as required. The position will contribute to the teaching programs of the Faculty and assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties, including developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. The incumbent will also contribute to Faculty management and administration generally. 

The position is expected to mentor and counsel students on academic matters, and will also supervise honours, masters and PhD students.  

Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following: 

  • An earned doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area
  • A strong track record of research as evidenced by publications in high quality journals
  • Demonstrated evidence of self-directed research ability
  • Demonstrated experience in the designated research discipline, with ability carry out independent research projects, both independently and within a broader team
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching and associated administrative duties at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
