De Montfort University is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Contour Fashion within the School of Design – a School that brings together the key subjects of Fashion, Textiles, Product, Furniture, Crafts and Interior Design. The School incorporates undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD study with excellence in teaching, research and design consultancy.
You will be based in the Contour Fashion Subject Area, an established Subject area with a global reputation for producing high calibre design graduates in the specialist field of lingerie, swimwear, sportswear and corsetry. With a relevant degree and appropriate industry experience you will have an excellent understanding of the subject area coupled with a creative flair.
You will be expected to contribute to the academic and reputational development of Contour Fashion Subject Area, which includes BA(Hons) Contour Fashion and the newly validated BA(Hons) Contour Fashion Communication programme, and to undertake scholarly research. You will engage with teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and will require excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Whilst teaching experience is desirable, it is not essential. However an understanding and interest in Contour Fashion/Intimate Apparel within the context of Higher Education would be a distinct advantage for all applicants. You will be highly motivated and passionate about Intimate Apparel Design and the challenge to inspire the next generation of Contour Fashion graduates. A commitment to working within the context of a team, to build on the success of Contour Fashion is essential.
