Research Support Advisor

University of Edinburgh - Research Support Office (L5), Corporate Services Group

An opportunity exists within the Research Support Office for a Research Support Advisor to join the CMVM team. Research Support Advisors play a key role in developing and supporting grant-funded research activity. As a member of a team, the postholder will work closely with a number of Centres in the College, as well as lead on or be involved in College-wide activity to ensure that cross-College opportunities are optimized. RSA's provide a range of services, including horizon scanning for new research opportunities, identifying funding opportunities, providing advice and guidance on grant-writing and quality assurance, advising on funders' terms and conditions, ensuring applications are appropriately costed, submitting applications to deadlines, and assisting with the negotiation of contractual terms.

This is a challenging role: RSA's must balance desk based deadline driven activity with event delivery and client and funder engagement activities. They must be excellent writers, (blog, reports, emails) who also have strong numerical skills and attention to detail. RSA's must demonstrate a can-do attitude, exercising initiative and judgement in solving problems. They must demonstrate confidence in resolving client queries independently and be comfortable leading events and meetings.

The post is full-time, fixed term for 12 months and available immediately.

Closing Date: 09-DEC-2016  at 5pm GMT
