Deputy Head of Quality and Governance

GSM London

About GSM

This is an exciting time for GSM London. Founded in 1973 and formerly known as the Greenwich School of Management, we are one of the UK’s largest independent for-profit HE providers and one of the few private providers to have passed QAA Institutional Review. We have two campuses and a study centre in London and over 6,000 students. We are committed to widening access to enable social mobility through our focus on strengths-based learning and our student outcomes, including their employability. We are building organisational capability to take us forward as we seek to attain degree awarding powers and university status. In this we are working closely with our validating partner, Plymouth University, who are supportive of our ambitious growth plans.

About the Role

A vital part of GSM London’s evolution is ensuring that our structures and processes for quality assurance and enhancement are clear, robust, effective, and consistently applied and implemented. The role of Deputy Head of Quality and Governance makes an important contribution to steering this.

Working within the Quality and Governance Office, you will be operationally responsible for key quality assurance activities including the external examiners system, student satisfaction surveys, degree programme validation, review and annual reporting, the committee system, and maintaining productive working relationships with academic departments while ensuring institutional compliance with internal and external regulatory frameworks, including our validating authority.

The role will require you to work with colleagues at various levels of seniority as well as students, within a busy environment. The Quality and Governance Office has an intrinsic role in embedding the culture of quality assurance and enhancement and helping to progress GSM London’s goal of attaining degree awarding powers and university status. In the post of Deputy Head of Quality and Governance you would have an important part to play in this, through the monitoring and review processes that are an integral part of an effective quality assurance and enhancement framework. This is an opportunity to undertake a managerial role and contribute to the growth of an evolving, forward-looking Higher Education provider.
