John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford
We are seeking a research assistant for a short pilot study to determine CTL responses in blood samples from HIV infected patients. The aim is to evaluate if these samples can be used as the basis for a grant proposal. This requires the postholder to apply a range of tissue culture techniques and methods, including ELISpot and ICS, while working within a Cat3 safety laboratory. Owing to the short duration of the post, prior experience with these techniques and Cat3 working procedures is essential. You will be responsible to, and receive day-to-day laboratory supervision/direction from Dr Iversen and her group.
Your duties will include managing you own research and administrative activities, helping determine the most appropriate methodologies to test hypotheses, selecting, following and adapting experimental protocols and being responsible for general laboratory management and administration.
You will hold a relevant Bachelor, Master or PhD degree, together with relevant experience with ELISpot and ICS FACS analyses. You will have prior experience working in a Cat3 laboratory and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within an established research programme.
The post is full-time for a fixed-term of 7 months in the first instance.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Monday 12 December 2016 will be considered. Interviews will be held in January 2017.
