The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences is seeking a Radiation Protection Officer to take a leading role in the development of local policies and procedures, relating to the use of ionising and non-ionising radiation. The post holder will oversee the implementation of the local policies, within all Schools in the College where radioactive materials and lasers are used, in order to ensure compliance with relevant; legislation, regulations and University policy.
The post holder will provide advice and guidance on radiation use, to members of staff within Schools who have defined radiation safety roles, including Radiation Protection Supervisors and Laser Safety Officers.
The post holder will have a degree in a related discipline, e.g. Chemistry, Physics or Engineering. Substantial experience working within a technical/scientific environment specifically working in the field of radiation.The post holder must have excellent organisational and communication skills.
