We are seeking a full-time Instrumentation Workshop Technician to join the Turbomachinery research group at the Department of Engineering Science (Osney Lab, Oxford). The post is funded by Innovate UK and MoD and is for a fixed-term of 8 months starting Jan 2017 or soon thereafter.
The project will include manufacture and installation of thin film temperature sensors, thermocouples, pressure tappings, eddy current sensors, cabling and connectors for gearboxes, internal combustion engines and gas turbines. You will be responsible for the manufacture, installation and calibration aspects.
You should hold a BTEC or equivalent with experience in the manufacture of instrumentation particularly thin film sensors and thermocouples. You should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work on a collaborative project within a team. Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate ideas are also required.
