This is a new Professor/Reader/Senior Lecturer post in one of our academic departments with a three year secondment to the Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS) as Deputy Director. In the role as Deputy Director of IADS, you will be responsible for further expanding the activities of the Institute, developing new activities and a programme of work and supporting the delivery of the UNESCO Chair objectives.

This post involves working closely with the Director of the Institute and UNESCO Chair, Professor Maria Fasli, to provide academic leadership to support the shaping of research, knowledge exchange, education and professional development activities within the Institute.

You will have PhD in a relevant discipline and relevant academic expertise in an area related to analytics, data science or big data (examples of relevant areas include but are not limited to the digital creative economy, quantitative social science, business analytics, computer science or related engineering discipline, mathematics, statistics or visualisation).

The successful applicant may come from a range of disciplinary backgrounds, but you will need to have relevant academic expertise in an area related to analytics, data science or big data and be working in a field of one of the University's existing Departments and be returnable to one of the planned Units of Assessment within the University for REF 2020/21.  At the Professorial level, applicants should have a proven track record of successful academic leadership at a senior level in a higher education institution that includes working with external partners and a track record of successfully initiating and implementing significant research projects which involved a number of internal and external key stakeholders.
