The University Nursery, graded as outstanding by Ofsted in February 2016, provides day and sessional care for the children of students and staff. The nursery is registered for 78 children with a staff team of 32. As a qualified practitioner you will work with a group of 12 children under 2 years old providing all of their care needs as well as observing children's play to maintain their developmental records and plan for their next steps in learning and development.
You will have a good knowledge of the requirements of the Statutory Guidance for the Foundation Stage as well as a comprehensive knowledge of children's development and the Early Years Outcomes. You will also be aware of safeguarding protocols and be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to respond to any safeguarding concerns.
You may also be asked to act as a mentor for one of our apprentices.
You must hold as a minimum a level 3 childcare qualification and ideally you will have a grade c in GCSE English and Mathematics.
You must be able to provide evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK and must also be able to obtain a clear DBS check.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
