The Role

Do you want to be part of a new cutting-edge outreach centre specialising in STEM subjects (Science Technology Engineering and Computing)?

Are you interested in educational activities that will spread knowledge about STEM subjects to school children and other groups?

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and bright graduate to join our friendly team.

The Person

This is a new role created to help manage the day to day operation of the new outreach provision at the new centre and our two lorries.

You will be a problem solver who can juggle priorities and a get-the-job-done attitude which will enable you to deliver a high quality service to customers.

You will learn about managing bookings for the facilities and equipment, vehicle and driver checks, event planning and delivering educational sessions. You will gain experience in many different areas: liaising with schools to arrange visits, planning sessions, running activities as well as developing the outreach offer. You will gain full exposure to organising and running an outreach service as well as receiving mentoring and development.


  • Undergraduate degree in a Science, Engineering or Computing subject.
  • A clean valid UK Driving Licence for vehicles up to 3500Kg.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and social media.
  • Ability to work flexibly and to changing priorities.

The Faculty / Department

Kingston University have just completed a multi-million pound project, part of which developed an outreach centre and 'lab in a lorry' facilities which are well-equipped to deliver sessions in science, engineering and computing.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated intern to gain invaluable experience. This is a hands on internship so passion, enthusiasm and a desire to learn all things about facilitating science, engineering and computing based learning is a must. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities. This internship is designed to give the successful applicant a solid foundation upon which to build key skills, knowledge and experience that you require for your future career.
