The Department of History and Politics is a thriving and successful academic community. The Department’s team is composed of active researchers who made a creditable contribution to the previous REF and continues to strive for future success.
The position will be to bring knowledge in a specific sub area of Contemporary History/Politics including for example, but not exclusively, political extremism (e.g. Fascism), Protest/Resistance, Cold War, British, West/East European, Middle East or American contexts. Candidates who are able to teach on Research Methods in History and/or Politics are also encouraged to apply as are those working in gender, social, cultural, economic or political history, politics, political theory, area studies or international relations. The successful applicant will be expected to teach on our BSc (Hons) Politics; BA (Hons) Politics & Contemporary History; BA (Hons) Modern History; and BA (Hons) History programmes. The post is designated as being for a contemporary specialist, broadly defined as being post-1950s up to and including twenty first century politics.
It is an ideal position for an early career scholar looking for a first ‘faculty’ research and teaching position in a department that encourages interdisciplinary work.
