An opportunity has arisen, at the University of Warwick, for an experienced High Performance Computing (HPC) system administrator. This is a permanent post for an individual able to take a hands-on, key role in all technical aspects of the University’s central HPC facilities comprising of several large-scale Linux clusters.

The post holder will work within the University’s Scientific Computing Research Technology Platform (RTP) as part of a highly specialised team of Linux and HPC experts. The role is primarily responsible for the system administration of the RTP’s HPC facilities but the post holder will also be expected to make significant technical contributions to: future HPC architecture and technology direction; procurement; provision of expert help and support ensure the RTP’s user base makes informed, efficient use of the facilities.

The successful candidate will have a number of years of experience in large-scale HPC system administration, gained in either an academic or industrial research-orientated environment, along with a degree or equivalent experience in a discipline relevant to scientific computing. In addition, a higher degree or similar experience and exposure to HPC as a user would be advantageous.
