An exciting opportunity has arisen at Division of Health Sciences, Warwick Medical School, for an experienced post-doctoral researcher who also has experience working in health services research. You will join an enthusiastic research team working on a mixed methods study with the aim of adapting an Individualised Placement Support model (hitherto used to help people with mental health problems back to work) to tackle helping people with chronic pain back to work. You will be responsible for the qualitative research and a systematic review including analysis of a meta-synthesis, and a review of prognostic indicators, and then eliciting participant and employer perspectives through observation and interviews. You will be responsible for participant recruitment, data collection through interviews, analysis and report writing. Subsequently, you will be involved in a process evaluation of the main feasibility part of the study, where the developed intervention will be tested. You will contribute to the synthesis of results, both qualitative and quantitative, from the different parts of the study and coordinate research activities. The role includes close liaison with clinicians, other health service staff, and employer partners. You will work closely and flexibly with a researcher primarily responsible for quantitative data collection.

You will demonstrate excellent communication and management skills together with the ability to organise and to work autonomously and as part of a team. You will be able to motivate others, show enthusiasm and innovate when faced with different types of challenges. You will have a PhD in health services research or a related field. Experience of qualitative research is essential.

Where you have not yet been awarded your PhD, any offer made to you will be an under-appointment to the post of Research Assistant at a salary of £28,143 per annum. Once your PhD has been awarded and you have evidenced this, you will be appointed to the substantive post of Research Fellow at a salary within the range shown above.
