Full Time Post: 36.25 hours per week

Library & Student Services at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) is seeking to appoint a Dyslexia Adviser for our Epsom campus.

UCA is reshaping its disability and SpLD services in order to embrace the challenges of the DSA reforms. The University is strategically committed to developing and improving teaching, learning and assessment practices to be fully inclusive and aims to enable students with SpLDs to experience and engage with a curriculum that has systemically removed the barriers to learning.

Library & Student Services is seeking individuals with specialist expertise and knowledge of dyslexia and experience of working with students, who are enthused by the prospect of being able to affect real institutional change and who will:

  • Work in partnership with our academic and technical staff to create teaching and learning strategies that enable our diverse student groups to succeed, and which are appropriate to within an art and design context.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team across Library & Student Services to enhance and further improve the experience of students with SpLDs and disabilities.
  • Manage a specialist team of sessional dyslexia tutors to deliver services to individual students through their DSA entitlement.
  • Develop innovative methods of providing support to student with SpLDs, and embed best inclusive practice within curriculum delivery to benefit ALL learners.

The ideal candidates will be fully qualified dyslexia tutors with a background in Higher or Further Education and preferably have qualified teacher status. You will be passionate about developing inclusive teaching and learning practice and will possess the skills to positively influence change.
