Research and Innovation Services (RIS) is the dynamic, commercially orientated interface between the University of Surrey and business, providing a range of services in support of research, innovation and knowledge exchange activities across the University.
An opportunity has arisen to join our Business Development team as Business Development Officer. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Business Development Officer will provide a highly professional service connecting the University’s world-class know-how with the business community in a manner commensurate with the University’s high ranking status.
With responsibility for developing and managing several client facing projects concurrently through to completion, such as Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, other Innovate UK programmes and other University of Surrey business offerings, you will generate income opportunities and support the drive for new ideas and offerings. You will apply sound judgement and initiative in dealing with opportunities and challenges, whilst working as part of a tight-knit collaborative business team who focus cohesively to deliver the highest standard of outcomes.
Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you will have a professional and confident communication style and the ability to lead complex business development activities through to completed project delivery. Significant, relevant business development experience, together with a very strong client service ethos and excellent administrative, operational and financial project management skills are essential.
Experience in dealing with/setting up commercial partnerships is needed as is the ability to deal pro-actively with a broad network of academic and commercial stakeholders.
Applicants must be prepared to travel off-site to clients and work outside normal hours when required.
