The Cranfield Institute for Resilient Futures (CIRF) is a specialist centre for research, education & consultancy in life cycle analysis, ecosystem services, strategic resilience and foresight research, and risk appraisal.
We are expanding our capabilities in environmental science and are seeking a Senior Lecturer to undertake research and teaching in the field of Environmental Impact Assessment. This position will play a key role in delivering the research programme within the Cranfield Institute for Resilient Futures (CIRF) and across our Environment and AgriFood Theme.
You will undertake applied research of direct relevance to policy makers, industry and scientists, with a focus on issues that impact both natural and industrial ecosystems, and developing solutions and understanding that can be applied across sectors. You will need a strong grasp of the multidisciplinary issues involved the short-, medium- and long-term environmental impacts of man-made systems. Much of our current work concerns impacts and risks around big data, food safety and urban resilience; but the future is open. As a clear, creative thinker of demonstrable analytical ability, you will be comfortable synthesising complex information and writing papers, proposals and reports communicating to a wide range of audiences.
You will have a PhD in a relevant subject (further information available in the candidate brief). Extensive experience of conducting high impact, internationally excellent research in environmental impact assessment, evidenced through high-profile publications in the top, peer reviewed journals as well as in books and research reports is required, alongside an awareness of the research needs for government and industry within the UK and beyond. Therefore a proven ability to plan, win and lead the delivery of research programmes, to develop techniques and sources of funding, including track record of securing significant research funding from research councils (or international equivalents), government and industry as Principal and/or co-investigator is essential
If you excel in delivering timely and high quality support to industry and government, with a passion for the environment agenda, we look forward to hearing from you.
