We are looking for an experienced Trial Team Leader to join the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit to support the clinical research being undertaken by the unit. This post is available for five years in the first instance. This opportunity will appeal to senior trial managers/ co-ordinators who want to expand their existing experience in clinical trials research, management and leadership within a thriving trials unit environment.
The Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) is one of two UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered clinical trials units (CTUs) at the University of Birmingham (UOB), and employs over 100 members of staff. The unit has an extensive portfolio of clinical trials covering a wide range of disease areas across both primary and secondary care. The unit is currently running 50 trials, test evaluation or screening studies.
This new post has arisen to lead and develop a team of trial management staff responsible for administration of a portfolio of clinical trial research projects across a range of disease conditions. The portfolio includes trials of medicinal products, diagnostic tests, behavioural and other interventions, and are recruiting patients nationally and in some cases, internationally. The Team Leader will work with the Trials Unit Directors in developing and maintaining the trials portfolio, promoting the unit’s activities within the research and clinical communities.
Applicants will have a degree in a biomedical or relevant subject, with extensive clinical trial management experience. An in-depth understanding of the regulations and guidance governing clinical trials in the UK and of trial management methodology is vital. They must be able to use their own initiative, be an effective leader, team player and an excellent communicator.
