The Bartlett School of Architecture is part of a truly multidisciplinary Faculty of the Built Environment in world-class University College London. The Facilities, Buildings and Safety Manager will work in conjunction with the Facilities Assistant and together they will form the School’s Facilities team. The Facilities team will support all the School’s activities, including teaching, research, consultancy and public outreach events, such as exhibitions. The main purpose of the Facilities team is to provide the highest level of service to staff and students occupying the existing buildings and undertaking current activities whilst at the same time making improvements to existing systems and processes. The Facilities, Buildings & Safety Manager will be required to respond to a significant amount of enquiries from staff and students. The post holder will take responsibility for Health and Safety and Fire Safety management within the School, including the assessment of risk assessments and Method Statements. He/she will also work with the Faculty Facilities Manager on building and refurbishment projects and maintenance works as well as being involved in new projects in the future. The post holder will manage the logistics of staff and student relocations and events and liaise with contractors, UCL security and cleaning staff in order to agree and monitor levels of service.

The successful post holder will have a Health and Safety qualification, minimum NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH or equivalent. You will have significant experience of working within a Facilities role in a higher education or similar environment. Excellent project management skills and experience as well as experience of coordinating teams with specific objectives is essential. Experience of evaluating risk assessments and monitoring contractor service level agreements is important. In addition, the successful post holder will have knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and proven ability to communicate with maintenance engineers. Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety and Fire Safety Management legislation is essential as are excellent communication and organisational skills, self-motivation and the ability to handle a heavy and varied workload. You will ideally have line management and events management experience and hold a valid First Aid qualification.
