Applications are invited for the above post at The University of Nottingham which will have dual responsibilities within the Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing Group (3DPRG) and the Advanced Manufacturing Research Group.
Working at the interface between design, bio imaging, additive manufacturing and surface engineering the successful applicant will create effectors which will create metamaterial surfaces structures which will revolutionise biomedical imaging.
This project will bring together leading researchers at Nottingham, Warwick and Leeds Universities in order to tackle this multidisciplinary challenge. Given the range of skills required the successful candidate is not expected to have demonstrable expertise in all disciplines but rather a desire to apply current expertise and develop ancillary skills through the course of the project.
Candidates must hold a good honours degree or equivalent in Engineering or Physical Science, and a PhD (or close to completion) in Engineering, Physical Sciences or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. The successful candidate will be able to show:
- A good knowledge of metamaterials and their applications.
- A good understanding of ultransonics and the role of surface design for ultrasonic instruments
- Understanding of common 3D printing techniques.
- An emerging publishing track record and experience of presenting research findings.
- Awareness of the growing importance of 3D Printing to industry.
- Working knowledge design and 3D printing software.
